Descripción: La trucha común presenta una librea variable, predominando el dorso pardo verdoso y el vientre de tonalidad blanquecina; los flancos presentan reflejos plateados y están salpicados de ocelos negros y rojos, en tamaño y frecuencia variable, que se extienden por las aletas dorsales. Dispone de aletas redondeadas, a excepción de la adiposa, situada entre la caudal y la dorsal, característica de los salmónidos. La aleta caudal es larga, carnosa y con imbricaciones de radios. Las aletas ventrales y anal, muy potentes, le permiten girar rápidamente y las pectorales, muy sólidas, le permiten realizar movimientos rápidos. La freza tiene lugar en la segunda mitad del otoño, eclosionando los huevos (entre 1.000 y 2.000 por cada kilo de peso), que miden de 3 a 5 mm., durante el invierno. El periodo de incubación oscila entre 45 días y 2 meses, tras el cual aparecen los alevines que permanecen en los riachuelos donde han nacido para mas tarde trasladarse a aguas más profundas. La temperatura óptima para su crecimiento es entre 13 y 14º C. y la madurez sexual la adquieren al tercer año de su vida. La trucha es de color castaño oliváceo a verde en el lomo y flancos, con vientre blanco rosado o blanco plateado, pequeños puntos rojos carmín en los flancos. Dorso marmóreo debido a las manchas vermiculadas en el mismo, aletas pectorales, ventrales y anal con el primer radio de la aleta blanco (característica inconfundible de la especie) El máximo de temperatura que tolera para su vida normal es entre 16° y 18° C.
Alimentación: Las truchas se alimentan esencialmente de insectos, tanto terrestres como acuáticos, peces mas pequeños, pequeños crustáceos y moluscos, así como pequeños animales terrestres caídos al agua.
Ecosistema: Es una especie que requiere aguas claras, frías y bien oxigenadas, con fondos pedregosos, situándose en las corrientes de las entradas y salidas de las pozas, devorando todo lo que pasa cerca de ellas, pues rara vez se desplaza de su zona de caza. |
